Tenth Parliament and the Constitution

The 10th Parliament has — since Kenyans ratified the new Constitution on August 4, 2010— made a number of strides to implement the supreme Law. By December 2011, Parliament had passed the following 18 pieces of legislation which the President has since assented into laws:

  • Judicial Service Act (No 1 of 2011)
  • Vetting of Judges and Magistrates Act (No 2 of 2011)
  • Supreme Court Act (No 7 of 2011)
  • Independent Offices Appointment Act (No 8 of 2011)
  • Independent Electoral and Boundaries Com- mission Act (No 9 of 2011)
  • Salaries and Remuneration Commission Act (No 10 of 2011)
  • Political Parties Act (No 11 of 2011)
  • Kenya National Commission on Human Rights Act (No 14 of 2011)
  • National Gender and Equality Commission Act (No 15 of 2011)
  • Commission on Revenue Allocation Act (No 16 of 2011)
  • Contingencies Fund and County Emergency Funds Act (No 17 of 2011)
  • National Government Loans Guarantee Act (No 18 of 2011)
  • Power of Mercy Act (No 21 of 2011)
  • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Act (No 22 of 2011)
  • Commission on Administrative Justice Act (No 23 of 2011)
  • Elections Act (No 24 of 2011)
  • National Police Service Commission Act (No 30 of 2011)
  • Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, 2011 (No 33 of 2011).
